Cantos Cuentos Colombianos was one of the most extensive exhibitions of contemporary Colombian art ever presented in Europe. The oeuvre of ten renowned artists revealed a hitherto unknown world of images and experiences, begging comparison with any other international art.
Cantos Cuentos Colombianos was not only a national exhibition but also a thematic one. In such aggravated living conditions, art is naturally pursued not for its own sake but to address the political and social situation of the country. Of compelling rigor in both form and content, these pieces are the work of mature artists who approach their homeland and its turbulent history and present from surprisingly diverse angles. The richness of their artistic handwriting is mirrored in their broad range of chosen media. The exhibition showed installations, videos, photographs, objects, performances, and sound pieces from the holdings of the Daros Latinamerica Collection.
